Last night the Indians took on Felix Hernandez, one of the best pitchers in baseball, and knocked him out of the game early (was actually King Felixs' shortest outing of the season). The Tribe was helped by a couple of Mariners errors in the first inning which led to 4 runs (2 earned), but they also swung the bats well, pounding out a season high five doubles.
Ubaldo Jimenez bounced back from a rough outing his last time out against the Red Sox by pitching six strong innings. After allowing a run in the first he was able to scatter just 2 more runs while recording a quality start. He threw a lot of pitches early on, but a good sign for him (and the Indians) they were mostly strikes.
The top of the lineup came alive and will look to continue their momentum in the second game of this two game set (12:05pm at Progressive Field).
